Each region has its own climate. As a result, the materials needed to build dwellings in various climates vary as well. While some properties are subjected to tropical storms and humidity, others are exposed to completely different weather conditions, such as snow, sleet and sun, and require siding that is adequate for these situations.

A Quick Look at the HardieZone®️ System

That is why James Hardie® invented the HardieZone® System. How is the HardieZone System implemented?

What Is the HardieZone®️ System?

James Hardie created the HardieZone System to meet the demand for siding products that perform in various climates. James Hardie recognized from the start that one size didn’t fit everyone. Products that work well in warm southern regions won’t work well in frigid northern climates.

First, James Hardie identified eight climatic parameters that affect siding performance, which was then utilized to create 10 climatic zones across North America. Further study limited these zones down to two: HZ5® and HZ10®. After receiving an order from a siding contractor, James Hardie ships it to the customer’s HardieZone. These products must be installed by James Hardie certified installers.

What HardieZone Offers

  1. HZ5 – Any skilled siding contractor would recommend this product line in locations with freezing temperatures and significant seasonal temperature fluctuations. To guarantee the surface’s attractiveness matches its endurance, it has been developed for outstanding paint adherence and moisture resistance. Additionally, a drip edge has been created to aid with water management
  2. HZ10 – This James Hardie product is well-known for its long-lasting performance. This product range is designed for hurricane-prone regions as well as coastal places with salty sea air and the sweltering heat of the South. Even after a hot, humid and tropical storm season, HZ10 is engineered to resist splitting, breaking, rotting and swelling.

How the HardieZone System Works

James Hardie siding products are Engineered for Climate® and have a logical classification system called the HardieZone System. The system provides siding with performance characteristics that are specific to the climate in which it is installed. This means that regardless of where you live, you may choose the best James Hardie siding for your project.
